Ringle Superduper8 Rear Hub NOS Red 1996

The SuperduperEight was a hub introduced in 1996 to replace the SuperEight.
The SuperEight that was introduced in 1994 and was a genuine game changer, being one of the first, if not the first, to get around Shimano’s freehub body patent. This allowed riders to have not only the brilliant design and aesthetic of a Bubba series hub, but also to have the smoothness of Hyperglide shifting. It was a cool hub, but unfortunately the ratchet was prone to wear. Servicing was also difficult as one of the bearings was trapped behind the ratchet mechanism.
The SuperduperEight addressed these issues and far more besides. The all new ratchet mechanism was twice as large, with a fast ten-degree engagement. The four independent bearings were extremely beefy and strong, and above all 100% serviceable. The larger diameter aluminium axle was not only lighter than the old steel item, but stiffer too. Extensive testing with the Yeti team in the mid-nineties, proved the hub to also be a genuine improver in the stiffness of the rear suspension setups of the time. This would have been on the Yeti ARC-AS and ARC AS/LT. A later bespoke thru-axle derivative of this hub, with a disc brake was the dedicated fitment for the Yeti Lawwill DH4/6/8/9 bikes that followed.
Servicing of the hub was easy using standard cycle tools, meaning maintenance wasn’t onerous. Every single spare part was also available.
By 1997 the graphics where changing from stick-on decals to laser etching, and also evolving into the later typeface used by Ringlé Components. At this stage some of the brighter colours such as the legendary purple (3D-Violet) were also beginning to be phased out.

This quill adapter allows you to extend a Klein MC2 steerer to 75mm
Klein MC2/3 - 1 1/8 Adapter Set Attitude/Adroit/Mantra
These upper and lower adapters will allow you to use an 1 1/8 non tapered fork steerer on an MC2 headset with the existing MC2 bearings still in place.
